CEOs approve the strategy of the newly launched NSRM Rail Freight Corridor
Warsaw, 19 November 2025 – The new Rail Freight Corridor North Sea – Rhine – Mediterranean (RFC NSRM) has officially been launched, merging the former North Sea Mediterranean and Rhine-Alpine corridors. RFC NSRM now connects the heart of the European industry, spanning over 12,150 km of railway network and accounting for more than a quarter of all European RFC routes. With 22 border points and 11 infrastructure managers and allocation bodies, over 120,000 international freight trains run on Corridor lines each year, making it the most frequented route in Europe.

The successful setup of the NSRM corridor in 2025 was marked by a CEO meeting in Warsaw, bringing together the leaders of all involved Infrastructure Managers and allocation bodies.
The CEO´s confirmed the corridors strategy to further develop its high-quality international freight paths marketed through its Corridor One-Stop-Shop, improve border-crossing times and punctuality and ensure a good coordination of works along the whole corridor routes. The Corridor is committed to fulfilling the requirements of the revised TEN-T Regulation, ensuring a dwell time of less than 25 minutes and a 75% arrival punctuality by 2030.
The CEO meeting also highlighted the general importance of customer focus, harmonization of processes, strengthening international cooperation and active engagement in the European rail freight community. The CEOs underlined the need that a cooperation like the RFCs is also crucial after 2030 and asked to develop a vision how this cooperation in future must be designed.
The corridor is managed by a joint office, with the Management Board representing all infrastructure managers and allocation bodies. In addition, the Executive Board has been set up with representatives from the Ministries of Transport from the participating countries. Railway undertakings and Terminals and Ports are organized in dedicated Advisory groups.
The NSRM Rail Freight Corridor is a major step forward in connecting European industry and promoting efficient and sustainable rail freight transport across the continent.
